Current Availability of places

Following our relocation, we were able to increase the places available in most age groups.  Our next published availability of places is April 2020. Please visit the following page to see if we can accommodate your child care requirements.

If you have an urgent requirement between now and April 2020, please call 01279 851998 and we will do our best to try and accommodate you.

Saplings offers parents 30 hours Government entitlement. Children attending 4 or 5 days a week, are offered 30 hours automatically if parents are eligible. The minimum hours attendance for eligible parents in September 2017 was 33 hours a week.

Summer Term (2018) we set the minimum hours of attendance for eligible parents the Summer Term at 44 hours per week.

The funding we are offered by Essex County Council does not cover our costs and we therefore have no alternative but to place limitations on access to 30 hours for parents. In addition, Essex County Council do not pay providers regularly and this can result in cash flow issues for some providers. Providers up and down the country are experiencing similar difficulties. (See links to Nursery World articles below)

If you are disappointed by our decision, please contact your local MP and ask them to

1. lobby parliament to review the regulations

2. increase the funding given to local authorities for the delivery of 30 hours by providers.

As a provider, we are facing increases in pension, inflation, wages, business rates - yet our funding rates will remain the same until 2020. Our staff are paid according to real Living Wage Foundation Rates
